Project and Building Consultancy, the largest department within Colliers UK, is a multi-disciplinary Building Consultancy with a modern commercial outlook and close-knit team ethic. The current growing Environmental Team is divided into three specialist services, Environmental Due Diligence, Floods & SUDS and Technical Services. We are looking to expand our Environmental Due Diligence team to support the increase in demand in this market.
As a Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant at Colliers, you are primarily responsible for professional environmental services relating to transactional due diligence. You will be required to have experience in managing and preparing Phase 1 Reports, Corporate Due Diligence, Report reviews of Phase II and other environmental technical documents. In addition, you will be required to set up internal and external consultants for additional services, such as liaising with the internal Floods & SUDS, Technical Services and Building Surveying teams, and appointing external subcontractors e.g. tank specialists, monitoring specialists and ecological consultants.
Bringing your technical expertise, you will evaluate a broad range of environmental risk factors and communicate findings, in succinct, commercial language tailored to Colliers’s clients, which include property investors, fund managers, high net worth individuals and developers. You will also act as an internal source of technical expertise to other areas of the business from new graduates up to Director level. Working closely with the Service Line Head to support this area of the business, you will be responsible for delivering a high quality of work whilst building and developing successful client relationships.

You will also be supported in obtaining your Chartership if you haven't already obtained this.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to
- Advising clients on environmental liabilities including land/groundwater contamination issues.
- Project management and liaising with clients, Colliers Surveyors, site occupants, sub-contractors and regulators.
- Oversight and delegation of due diligence reporting for transactions of property portfolios.
- Applying technical knowledge in analysing problems and creating solutions bespoke to the client’s needs.
- Providing a first-class level of service and advice to help maintain a network of clients and ensure repeat business.
- Undertaking site inspections (travel/driving required).
- Support and training of junior members of the team including reviewing due diligence reports.
- Working with and supporting all business functions/service lines.
- Administration and ownership over fee forecasting and invoicing.
- Demonstrable relevant experience including producing Phase 1 Environmental Risk Assessments for transactions and undertaking site walkovers across a range of land uses.
- Project management experience i.e. management of junior team members, working closely with other internal teams and subcontractors.
- High organisational skills with the ability to multi-task, work to tight deadlines and take ownership of workload.
- Client facing experience.
- Problem solver who consistently delivers a high standard of work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Driving license.
- Standard MS Office skills.
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline such as Geography, Geology, Geological Engineering, or Environmental Science.
- Current understanding of relevant environmental regulations, legislation and assessment criteria.
Desirable
- 4-7 years’ experience working in the environmental industry.
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
- Chartered or working towards chartership.
- Business development experience.
