Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior CloudOps Engineer for our newly established Technology Hub in Madrid. This is a unique opportunity to become part of the founding team that helps shape the culture, practices, and technical direction. As Senior CloudOps Engineer, you will focus on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud environments across Azure and GCP, while enabling software teams to deliver faster through automation and operational excellence.

As a key member of the DevOps team, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining cloud infrastructure, embedding infrastructure as code (IaC) practices, and driving cloud governance in close partnership with the infrastructure team. You will also serve as a bridge to Infrastructure and Information Security, embedding compliance and resilience into every layer of our cloud operations.

You are a hands-on problem-solver with strong software design principles, who thrives in a collaborative and agile environment. As a senior member of the DevOps function, you will set technical direction, drive best practices. and mentor junior engineers while building solutions with real business impact.

Cloud Architecture and Infrastructure Management

  • Design, implement and manage scalable, resilient, and cost-optimized cloud architectures in GCP and Azure.
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
  • Oversee resource management (compute, storage, networking, identity, and access control.
  • Ensure systems are designed for resilience, disaster recovery, and high availability across multiple regions.
  • Define and enforce standards for Azure DevOps projects, repositories, branching strategies, and release configurations to ensure consistency across global engineering teams.

Automation and Operational Excellence      

  • Automate provisioning configuration and scaling of cloud infrastructure.
  • Work closely with CI/CD Engineers to embed infrastructure changes seamlessly into delivery pipelines.
  • Collaborate with CI/CD Engineers to ensure Azure DevOps pipelines integrate effectively with monitoring, security scanning and governance frameworks.
  • Implement self-service models, and templates to empower software engineers to consume cloud services safely and efficiently.
  • Continuously optimize cost, performance, and scalability through monitoring and proactive improvements.
  • Provide onboarding for Azure DevOps services, ensuring teams follow established standards.

Security, Compliance and Governance

  • Partner with Information Security to enforce cloud security baselines, identity and access management (IAM) and encryption policies.
  • Drive governance frameworks around tagging, resource usage, cost controls, and compliance reporting.
  • Integrate cloud-native security and monitoring tools (Azure Security Center, GCP Security Command Center, etc).
  • Support adherence to standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR and SOC2 in collaboration with Engineering Operations,

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Infrastructure Team to clearly define responsibilities for networking, hybrid/on-prem integrations and legacy systems.
  • Partner with Platform Engineers to align infrastructure with Kubernetes and container strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for the Software Engineering teams when designing and consuming cloud services.
  • Mentor engineers across the organization in cloud-native best practices.
  • Provide input into the global operation model for cloud management, balancing standardization with regional needs.

 


Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5-8+ years of professional experience in cloud engineering operations, ideally across GCP and Azure.
  • Expertise with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud networking, IAM, and security configurations.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, GCP Operations Suite, Datadog))
  • Hand-on experience with Kubernetes, containers and cloud-native deployments in Azure and GCP.
  • Agile Development experience (Scrum/Kanban), including story estimation, code reviews and pair programming.
  • Experience working in distributed or remote teams and using tools such as Jira, GitHub, Miro and Azure DevOps.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Understanding of secure development practices and compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO27001, GDPR, SOC2).

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Deep knowledge and passion for the Azure DevOps platform (governance, reliability, integration). Exposure to multi-cloud governance frameworks and FinOps services.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and compliance-driven environments.
  • Contributions to internal development platforms or developer experience initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, growing tech environment and to foster change in larger organizations.
